The Union Cabinet has sanctioned a ₹1,500 crore incentive program under the National Critical Mineral Mission (NCMM).
The scheme focuses on recycling critical minerals sourced from e-waste, lithium-ion battery (LIB) scrap, and other secondary resources. It will run from FY 2025-26 to FY 2030-31.
- 20% Capital Expenditure (Capex) subsidy
- Operational Expenditure (Opex) incentives on incremental sales
- Max cap: ₹50 crore for large enterprises, ₹25 crore for smaller entities
- Develop 270 kiloton recycling capacity
- Generate 40 kiloton of critical minerals annually
- Draw estimated ₹8,000 crore investment
- Create around 70,000 jobs
Both new and existing recyclers, including start-ups, are set to benefit from this initiative.
UPSC Chairman Dr. Ajay Kumar has announced the creation of a Centre of Excellence to serve as a repository of best practices drawn from the UPSC and State Public Service Commissions.
This was disclosed during a virtual meeting with 27 State PSC representatives.

The World Health Organization (WHO) has raised concerns over suicide rates worldwide.
