The Cold Desert Biosphere Reserve in Himachal Pradesh has been added to UNESCO’s World Network of Biosphere Reserves during the 37th Session of UNESCO’s Man and the Biosphere Programme (27 Sept 2025).
- Now India’s 13th biosphere reserve recognized globally
- Two new Ramsar Sites designated:
- Gokul Jalashay (Buxar, Bihar)
- Udaipur Jheel (West Champaran, Bihar)

Mukhi, a female cheetah born in Kuno National Park on 29 March 2023, has become the first India-born cheetah to reach adulthood.

Shirish Chandra Murmu has been appointed as Deputy Governor of the Reserve Bank of India for a three-year term starting 9 October 2025.
He succeeds Rajeshwar Rao. Previously an Executive Director at RBI, his role is expected to bolster leadership and regulatory oversight.

Senior advocate R Venkataramani has been reappointed as Attorney General of India for another two-year term starting 1 October 2025.
He is India’s 16th Attorney General, succeeding KK Venugopal in 2022. Born in 1950 in Puducherry, known for expertise in constitutional law, human rights, and government litigation.
