📒 Short Notes: Why Stop at One-Liners?

Three compact explainers on different topics (no overlap with the quiz).

UIDAI — Unique Identification Authority of India: SITAA Innovation Scheme Aadhaar Innovation

What: UIDAI launched the SITAA innovation scheme to catalyse Aadhaar-linked solutions in artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), biometrics and privacy-preserving technologies with partners in MeitY & NASSCOM.

How: The programme prioritises use-cases like secure authentication, consented data sharing and scalable resident services; it encourages pilots with startups and public bodies using Aadhaar-compliant APIs and standards.

Why: Strengthening the Aadhaar ecosystem reduces friction in service delivery, enhances security through better liveness/anti-spoofing, and supports digital public infrastructure-led inclusion.

IUCN — International Union for Conservation of Nature: World Heritage Outlook 4 Climate Risk

What: IUCN’s fourth global review finds climate change is the top threat to natural World Heritage Sites, affecting about 43% of sites assessed, ahead of invasive species and development pressures.

How: The Outlook aggregates expert assessments, monitoring reports and site-level data to rate conservation outlooks and identify risk drivers such as warming, sea-level rise, coral bleaching and extreme events.

Why: These ratings guide managers and funders on adaptation priorities, resilient tourism planning and ecosystem restoration, helping nations meet conservation targets while safeguarding Outstanding Universal Value.

Bajrang Setu to Replace Laxman Jhula, Rishikesh Infrastructure

What: Uttarakhand is building Bajrang Setu, a 132 m glass-&-steel pedestrian bridge to replace the 1929 Laxman Jhula, with opening targeted by Dec 2025.

How: The design uses modern materials, controlled footfall corridors and improved anchorage to enhance safety, visibility and load handling over the Ganga compared with the aging suspension structure.

Why: It reduces structural risk, supports year-round tourist flow and preserves a symbolic crossing with a contemporary viewpoint for pilgrims and visitors.
