The Union Cabinet led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has approved updated royalty structures for four key minerals: Caesium, Graphite, Rubidium, and Zirconium.

The Supreme Court has directed the Jharkhand government to notify the Saranda Forest as a wildlife sanctuary to protect it from mining and developmental pressures.

Ambaji Marble, renowned for its milky white colour, exceptional durability, and historical significance, has received the Geographical Indication (GI) tag.

Padma Shri awardee and famed environmentalist Saalumarada Thimmakka, widely known as the “Tree Woman of India”, passed away at the age of 114 in Bengaluru, Karnataka.
- Born on 30 June 1911 in Gubbi Taluk, Tumakuru district.
- She earned the titles “Vriksha Mata” and “Mother of Trees.”
- Honored with the name ‘Saalumarada’, meaning “row of trees”, after planting 385 banyan trees along a 5-km stretch between Hulikal and Kudur in Ramanagara district.
- Alongside her husband, she nurtured and planted over 8,000 trees across Karnataka.
