Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari approved the appointment of Field Marshal Asim Munir as the country’s first Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) for a five-year term.

🔬 Science & Technology
Scientists from the Zoological Survey of India (ZSI) discovered two new jumping spider species in Meghalaya: Asemonea dentis and Colyttus nongwar.
- Asemonea dentis: Third species of genus in India; named for tooth-like structure on male’s palpal femur
- Colyttus nongwar: Second Indian species; named after Nongwar village in Khasi Hills
- Both belong to Salticidae family
Findings published in Zootaxa journal. The discovery highlights Meghalaya’s significance as part of the Indo-Burma Biodiversity Hotspot.
