Union Minister for Jal Shakti, C.R. Patil, chaired the 15th Empowered Task Force meeting on Ganga rejuvenation. He reviewed progress under the National Mission for Clean Ganga (NMCG) and praised faster execution of river-related infrastructure projects.
During the review period, 10 projects in Bihar were inaugurated or launched.
Two key initiatives unveiled:
- Riverathon 1.0 – A national-level hackathon to promote innovative river restoration ideas
- Ecological status booklets for major Ganga basin rivers, prepared with the Wildlife Institute of India
To facilitate smooth travel for pilgrims attending the Puri Rath Yatra, East Coast Railway introduced the ‘ECoR Yatra’ mobile application.
App features:
- Special & regular train schedules
- Live train and platform status
- Ticket counters, accommodation details & tourist guidance
It acts as a single digital platform for festival-related rail travel planning.
The Union Government approved a ₹417-crore Electronics Manufacturing Cluster (EMC 2.0) at Gautam Budh Nagar, Uttar Pradesh.

- Expected investment: ₹2,500 crore
- Employment potential: 15,000 jobs
- Supports Make in India and Viksit Bharat goals
The 25th Central Zonal Council Meeting was held in Varanasi, chaired by Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
Member states include: Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Uttarakhand
The council discussed 19 inter-state and national issues.
The Central Zonal Council is the only zonal council without any pending inter-state disputes.

The Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) raised the auto-settlement ceiling for advance claims from ₹1 lakh to ₹5 lakh.
Benefits include:

- Settlement within 72 hours
- Applicable for illness, education, marriage & housing
In FY25, 2.34 crore claims were settled automatically.
S&P Global Ratings revised India’s FY26 GDP growth forecast to 6.5%, citing:

India’s limited export dependence provides resilience against global slowdown.
👔 Appointments
Zou Jiayi, former Chinese Vice Finance Minister, was elected as the next President of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB).
She will assume office in January 2026, succeeding Jin Liqun.
AIIB currently has 110 members and focuses strongly on climate finance.
Naveen Pandey was appointed as Managing Director of Bajaj Consumer Care for a five-year term starting 1 July 2025, replacing Jaideep Nandi.
🔬 Science & Technology
Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla became the first Indian to visit the ISS and only the second Indian in space after Rakesh Sharma.
He piloted the Axiom-4 mission, which includes:
- 60 scientific experiments
- 7 India-led studies
- Research on crop seeds in microgravity
This marks India’s return to human spaceflight after 41 years since Rakesh Sharma’s mission in 1984.

Olympic champion Neeraj Chopra won the javelin title at the Ostrava Golden Spike 2025 (Czech Republic) with a throw of 85.29 m.
This followed his historic 90.23 m throw at the Paris Diamond League.
