Brahmaputra Underwater Tunnel
CCEA approved Rs 18,662 crore project featuring a 33.7 km corridor with a 15.79 km twin-tube tunnel connecting Gohpur to Numaligarh. This will reduce travel distance from 240 km to just 34 km.

Urban Challenge Fund
UCF approved with Rs 1 lakh crore central assistance. Funding structure: 25% Central + 50% from markets + remaining from States/ULBs. Operational from FY26 to FY31.
State Policy
Kerala’s Graphene Policy
Kerala became the first Indian state to approve a comprehensive graphene policy under CM Pinarayi Vijayan. Incentives include 50% land lease subsidy, 45% CAPEX support, and exemptions from stamp duty and electricity duty.
Digital Governance
Amended IT Rules 2026
MeitY amended IT Rules mandating labelling of AI-generated content (images/videos). Content takedown timeline reduced from 24–36 hours to 2–3 hours. Effective 20 February 2026.
Startups
Startup India FoF 2.0
Cabinet approved Startup India Fund of Funds 2.0 with Rs 10,000 crore corpus to mobilize venture capital. Launched under the broader Startup India initiative which began in 2016.

FIDE Freestyle Chess Championship 2026
Norwegian grandmaster Magnus Carlsen defeated American Fabiano Caruana to win the 2026 FIDE Freestyle Chess World Championship. Carlsen continues to dominate various chess formats globally.

Content Creator Labs Scheme
Budget 2026–27 allocated Rs 250 crore for Content Creator Labs in 15,000 secondary schools and 500 colleges under the AVGC talent scheme. Nodal institution: IICT Mumbai.
Obituary
David J. Farber (1934–2026)
David J. Farber, known as the “Grandfather of the Internet”, passed away on 7 February 2026 in Tokyo at age 91. He made foundational contributions to digital networking and distributed systems.

CCEA approved three multitracking projects spanning ~389 km across 4 states: Delhi, Haryana, Maharashtra, Karnataka. Routes: Delhi–Ambala, Kasara–Manmad, Ballari–Hosapete. Worth Rs 18,509 crore with FY31 target.
