Menstrual Health as Fundamental Right
In Dr. Jaya Thakur v. Government of India, SC declared MHH a Fundamental Right under Article 21. Schools must provide free oxo-biodegradable sanitary napkins (Classes 6-12), establish MHM corners, and ensure gender-segregated toilets. NCPCR and SCPCR supervise compliance.

Ol Chiki Script Centenary
Created in 1925 by Pandit Raghunath Murmu of Mayurbhanj, Odisha with 30 letters. Santhali included in Eighth Schedule in 2003. President Murmu released commemorative coin and postage stamp. Constitution translated to Santali in December 2025.

Virtually Integrated System to Access Agricultural Resources launched in Jaipur. Integrates AgriStack with ICAR packages. Access via toll-free 155261 with AI voice assistant Bharati. Phase 1 in Maharashtra, Bihar, Gujarat, Rajasthan with 10 schemes including PM-KISAN, PMFBY.
Environment
NHAI’s Bee Corridors Initiative
First-of-its-kind pollinator corridors along National Highways. Native species like Neem, Karanj, Mahua, Palash to be planted. Flowering clusters at 500m–1km intervals aligned to honeybee foraging ranges. 40 lakh trees planned for 2026-27, 60% under Bee Corridor initiative.

India-France Special Global Strategic Partnership
Bilateral ties upgraded to Special Global Strategic Partnership on 17 February 2026. India–France Year of Innovation 2026 unveiled for collaboration in defence, space, AI. France to chair G7 Summit (52nd) in 2026; India to chair BRICS Summit.

New Diplura Species & Tamil-Brahmi in Egypt
Lepidocampa sikkimensis discovered in Eastern Himalayas near Ravangla, Sikkim – first Diplura by Indian team. Published in Zootaxa. In Egypt’s Valley of Kings, ~30 inscriptions found including 20 in Tamil-Brahmi (1st-3rd century CE). Name “Cikai Korran” appears 8 times.

Cheetah Population Growth at Kuno
South African cheetah Gamini gave birth to 3 cubs at Kuno National Park, MP. Total cheetah population now 38; surviving cubs born in India reached 27. This is 9th successful litter. India completed world’s first intercontinental translocation of large carnivore in 2022-23.
