11th Raisina Dialogue 2026 β Theme & Significance
Held in New Delhi, March 5β7, 2026, the 11th Raisina Dialogue was themed ‘Samskara: Assertion, Accommodation, Advancement’. It is India’s flagship annual conference on geopolitics and geo-economics, co-organised by Observer Research Foundation (ORF) and the Ministry of External Affairs. The event first began in March 2016.

Finland President Alexander Stubb was the Chief Guest and Keynote Speaker at Raisina Dialogue 2026 β his first official visit to India as President. He held bilateral talks with PM Modi on March 5, 2026. Finland is a NATO member and an EU state, making this visit significant for India’s engagement with the Nordic-Baltic region.

HPV Vaccination Campaign β National & Maharashtra Drive
PM Modi launched India’s nationwide HPV vaccination campaign on February 28, 2026 from Ajmer, Rajasthan, targeting girls aged 9β14 years using the Gardasil quadrivalent vaccine (free of cost, tracked via U-WIN platform). Maharashtra’s state-level drive targets 8.94 lakh girls (aged 14β15) and was launched on International Women’s Day, March 8, 2026. India records ~1.27 lakh cervical cancer cases annually.

Saba Shawl β First Woman to Head Central Jail Srinagar
Saba Shawl was appointed Superintendent of Central Jail Srinagar via Government Order No. 145-Home of 2026 (dated March 2, 2026), becoming the first Kashmiri woman to head a prison in J&K. She qualified the J&K Public Service Commission in 2012 and holds a Master of Social Work (MSW) degree.

Scotland Legalises Alkaline Hydrolysis (Water Cremation)
Scotland became the first UK nation to legalise alkaline hydrolysis (also known as water cremation or aquamation) via the Hydrolysis (Scotland) Regulations 2026, effective March 2, 2026. The process uses a pressurised chamber with water and alkaline solution at 150Β°C and produces 35% fewer emissions than flame cremation β the first new legal funeral method in the UK since cremation was introduced in 1902.

Debrigarh Wildlife Sanctuary β Indian Gaur & Bison Fest
Debrigarh Wildlife Sanctuary (Bargarh district, Odisha) is called the ‘Land of Bisons’ for its Indian Gaur (Bos gaurus) population. Bounded by the Hirakud Reservoir on the Mahanadi River, it was declared a Wildlife Sanctuary in 1985 and is also an Eco-Sensitive Zone (ESZ). The 2nd Indian Bison Fest was held here on March 8, 2026.

CBIC’s EMI/Deferred Payment Facility for Import Duties
CBIC (Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs) introduced an EMI/Deferred Payment facility for import duties, effective April 1, 2026 to March 31, 2028 (announced in Union Budget 2026β27). Eligible importers can clear goods from ports without immediate customs duty payment, paying duties on a monthly basis β designed to ease cash flow and boost trade competitiveness.

INSV Kaundinya β India’s Traditional Stitched Sailing Vessel
INSV Kaundinya is a 20-metre stitched sailing vessel inspired by Ajanta Caves murals, built using coir rope and natural resins. It completed its maiden IndiaβOmanβIndia voyage, sailing from Porbandar (Dec 29, 2025) to Port Sultan Qaboos, Muscat (Jan 14, 2026), and was flagged into Mumbai Harbour on March 2, 2026 by MoS Defence Sanjay Seth.

The U-WIN digital platform tracks vaccination coverage under India’s nationwide immunisation drives, including the HPV vaccination campaign 2026. It provides real-time monitoring of beneficiaries (girls aged 9β14 using the Gardasil vaccine), ensuring accountability and preventing missed doses β a key component of India’s push toward digital health infrastructure.
