India’s First Hydrogen Fuel Cell Mining Truck β Chhattisgarh
Adani Enterprises Limited (AEL) flagged off India’s first hydrogen-powered fuel cell truck for mining in Raipur, Chhattisgarh (CM Vishnu Deo Sai). Transports coal from Gare Pelma III Block (Raigarh) to a CSPGCL power plant. Specs: 3 hydrogen tanks, PEM fuel cell stack, 40-tonne capacity, 200 km range. Executed by ANR + ANIL. Emits only water vapour and warm air.

The Tapti Basin Mega Recharge Project (βΉ19,244 crore) β MoU signed between MP and Maharashtra at the 28th Inter-State Control Board meeting, Bhopal β is the world’s largest groundwater recharge initiative. GoI funds 90%. Will irrigate 1,23,082 ha in MP (Burhanpur + Khandwa) and 2,34,706 ha in Maharashtra (Jalgaon, Akola, Buldhana, Amravati).

PSB FY25 Profits β PNB Leads % Growth, SBI Leads Absolute
Punjab National Bank (PNB) recorded the highest % profit growth: 102% rise to βΉ16,630 crore in FY25. SBI led in absolute profit: βΉ70,901 crore (40%+ of total PSB profits). All 12 PSBs collectively earned βΉ1.78 lakh crore β up 26% from βΉ1.41 lakh crore in FY24. Punjab & Sind Bank ranked 2nd in % growth at 71%.

Bhuwan Ribhu β First Indian Lawyer with WJA Medal of Honour
Bhuwan Ribhu, Indian child rights lawyer, received the WJA Medal of Honour at the World Law Congress 2025 (4β6 May, Dominican Republic) β the first Indian lawyer to be so honoured. Asian Rice Pangenome β CAS Decodes 144 Varieties
Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) developed the first pangenome of Asian cultivated rice (Oryza sativa L.) by sequencing 144 wild and cultivated varieties using PacBio HiFi technology. Identified 69,531 genes (28,907 core + 13,728 wild-rice-specific). Added 3.87 billion base pairs absent from earlier genomes. All Asian rice descended from Or-IIIa (subgroup of Oryza rufipogon).

Subbanna Ayyappan β Founding CEO of NFDB, Padma Shri 2022
Subbanna Ayyappan (b. 10 Dec 1955, Mysuru; d. May 2025) was founding CEO of NFDB (National Fisheries Development Board, Hyderabad, 2006β08). First non-crop specialist to lead ICAR as DG (2010β2016). Also served as Chairman of NABL, Secretary of DARE, Chancellor of Central Agricultural University (Manipur). Received Padma Shri 2022; championed India’s Blue Revolution.
