Observed on 11 April — birth anniversary of Kasturba Gandhi (born 1869, Porbandar). Initiated by the White Ribbon Alliance India (WRAI); officially recognised by India in 2003 — making India the first country globally to declare such a day. Kasturba Gandhi — ‘Ba’
Born 11 April 1869, Porbandar, Gujarat. Wife of Mahatma Gandhi; popularly called ‘Ba’ (mother in Gujarati). Participated in Champaran Satyagraha and Salt March. Passed away 22 February 1944 at Aga Khan Palace, Pune, under house arrest.

PM Mudra Yojana — 11 Years (2015–2026)
Launched 8 April 2015; 57.79 crore loan accounts; Rs 40.07 lakh crore disbursed. Four categories: Shishu (up to Rs 50,000), Kishore (Rs 50K–5L), Tarun (Rs 5–10L), Tarun Plus (Rs 10–20L, added in Budget 2024–25). MUDRA: subsidiary of SIDBI; refinances banks/MFIs — does NOT lend directly. Credit guarantee via NCGTC. Women: 59.81% of accounts.

National Quantum Mission — 1,000 km QKD Network
DST announced India’s 1,000 km secure quantum communication milestone (April 2026) — one of the world’s longest. Technology: QNu Labs‘ ARMOS QKD platform. NQM budget: Rs 6,003.65 crore (2023–2030–31). Target: 2,000 km pan-India backbone by 2030–31. NQM approved April 2023; now supports 17 startups.

Census 2027 — Three Historic Firsts
Phase I began 1 April 2026. Three firsts: (1) First fully digital census; (2) First with self-enumeration (se.census.gov.in, 16 languages); (3) First to include caste enumeration since 1931. Col. Sonam Wangchuk — ‘Lion of Ladakh’
Passed away 10 April 2026, Leh (heart attack), aged 61. Born 11 May 1964, Sankar, Leh. Awarded Maha Vir Chakra (MVC) — India’s 2nd-highest wartime gallantry award — for Operation Vijay (30 May 1999), Batalik Sector (above 5,500m). Led Ladakh Scouts; counter-ambushed enemy; recovered HMG, UMG, ammunition. Two army posts named after him: ‘Sonam 1’ and ‘Sonam 2.’

CAPF General Administration Act, 2026
Notified after Presidential assent. Replaces fragmented individual Acts with a centralised, harmonised system for service and administrative matters of all CAPFs. Covers Group A (General Duty) officers, IPS & Army officers on deputation. CAPFs under MHA: CRPF (largest; est. 1939), BSF, CISF, ITBP, SSB, NSG. Ensures uniform recruitment, promotion, and service conditions.

India–Seychelles & Jaishankar’s IOC Bilaterals
FM of Seychelles: Barry Faure. India implementing Special Economic Package for Seychelles; sent 250 MT food grains.
