Occurred 13 April 1919 (Baisakhi day), Amritsar, Punjab. Brigadier General Reginald Dyer ordered firing on unarmed civilians. British records: 379 killed, 1,200+ wounded; INC estimate: 1,000+ deaths. Memorial inaugurated 13 April 1961 by President Rajendra Prasad under Jallianwala Bagh National Memorial Act, 1951. Triggered Gandhi’s Non-Cooperation Movement.

NARIT AI — Gujarat Police’s AI for Narcotics
Launched 10 April 2026 by Gujarat Police — first LEA in India to deploy AI for narcotics investigation (under NDPS Act, 1985). Stands for Narcotics Analysis & RAG-based Investigation Tool. Uses Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG) technology. Generates court-aligned reports from verified legal databases. Developed with a Mumbai-based AI startup and Western Railway Police, Vadodara.

ISRO Gaganyaan — IADT-02 Parachute Test
ISRO conducted IADT-02 (Second Integrated Air Drop Test) at SDSC-SHAR, Sriharikota. Simulated Crew Module (~5.7 tonnes) lifted by IAF Chinook helicopter to ~3 km altitude. Deployed 10 parachutes of 4 types to decelerate; Indian Navy recovered the module. Validated parachute-based deceleration & recovery system for safe astronaut return. Swami Vivekananda Statue — Seattle, USA
First-ever life-size statue of Swami Vivekananda in the US unveiled 11 April 2026, Westlake Square, Seattle — first city government in the US to host such a monument.
