Developed with EkStep Foundation and Deloitte. DPI currently contributes ~1% of GDP; projected at 4% by 2030. Phases: DPI 2.0 (2025–2035) — livelihood-driven growth; DPI 3.0 (2035–2047) — broad-based prosperity. Targets eight sectoral transformations: MSMEs, agriculture, education, health.

SIPRI (est. 1966; HQ: Solna, Sweden) Fact Sheet April 2026. Global spend: USD 2,887 billion in 2025 — 11th consecutive year of growth. Ladakh — Five New Districts Notified
LG Vinai Kumar Saxena notified five new districts in April 2026 (MHA preliminary approval: August 2024). New districts: Nubra, Sham, Changthang (from Leh) and Zanskar, Drass (from Kargil). Total districts: 2 → 7. Ladakh became a Union Territory on 31 October 2019 after abrogation of Article 370. New districts will have appointed DCs and SPs for administration.

BHEL–NSTL Agreement — GT-IRSS Technology
BHEL (Maharatna PSU; HQ: New Delhi) signed LAToT with NSTL (HQ: Visakhapatnam; under DRDO) in April 2026 for the Gas Turbine-Infrared Suppression System (GT-IRSS). Designed for LM2500 gas turbines on naval vessels. Function: reduces infrared (IR) signature of naval ships by cooling exhaust and shielding heat emissions. BHEL handles technology absorption and execution. Supports Atmanirbhar Bharat and Make in India in the defence sector.

SkyHop Aviation — India’s First Commercial Seaplane Service
SkyHop Aviation Pvt. Ltd. received AOC from DGCA in April 2026. Initial operations in Lakshadweep (UT). Aircraft: De Havilland DHC-6 Twin Otter (19-seater; float-equipped). Phase 1 connects five Lakshadweep islands via docks at Agatti, Kiltan, and Kavaratti. Aligns with UDAN scheme (Ude Desh ka Aam Nagrik; launched 2016 by MoCA) for regional connectivity.

UAE Exits OPEC and OPEC+ — April 2026

India–New Zealand FTA — First-Ever Agreement
Signed by Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal (MoC&I) and NZ Minister Todd McClay in New Delhi, April 2026. India gains 100% duty-free access on all 8,284 tariff lines to New Zealand. India liberalises 70.03% of its tariff lines covering 95% of bilateral trade value. Investment target: USD 20 billion. First-ever FTA between the two nations; aligned with Viksit Bharat 2047 vision.
