Observed annually on 24 May, established by the National Schizophrenia Foundation (NSF). Dedicated to Dr. Philippe Pinel (1745–1826), French physician who pioneered humane psychiatric treatment. On 24 May 1792, Pinel removed chains from patients at Bicetre Hospital, Paris. Awareness symbol: Silver ribbon — representing clarity, strength, and anti-stigma efforts.

China launched Shenzhou-23 to the Tiangong Space Station in May 2026 — first mission to support a year-long human orbital stay.
