World Refugee Day 2026 — Theme & UNHCR
Observed 20 June annually. Theme 2026: “Until Everyone Is Safe.” Coordinated by UNHCR (United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees). Established by UNGA Resolution A/RES/55/76 (December 2000); first observed 20 June 2001 — coinciding with the 50th anniversary of the 1951 Convention Relating to the Status of Refugees. PM JI-VAN Yojana — 2G Ethanol Biorefinery, UP
MoPNG approved Rs 150 crore for India’s first private-sector 91 KLPD Hybrid 2G Ethanol Biorefinery at Wave Sugar, Dhanaura, Uttar Pradesh. Approved via Centre for High Technology (CHT) under Pradhan Mantri JI-VAN Yojana (Jaiv Indhan–Vatavaran Anukool fasal awashesh Nivaran Yojana). Produces low-carbon ethanol from agricultural residues (bagasse, crop stalks) using biomass gasification and advanced gas fermentation.

NIXI 23rd Foundation Day — Four Digital Platforms
NIXI (National Internet Exchange of India) launched four platforms: (1) IX Portal; (2) myIRINN Portal (internet number resources); (3) .IN Auction Portal (premium .IN domain bidding, launched 19 June 2026); (4) AI-enabled WHOIS Screening Platform (detects suspicious .IN registrations). Event inaugurated by S. Krishnan, Secretary, MeitY. Note: “National Domain Registry Portal (NDRP)” was NOT launched — a common distractor.

Law Officers of India — Hierarchy & Tushar Mehta
Hierarchy: Attorney General for India (AGI) [1st] → Solicitor General of India (SGI) [2nd] → Additional Solicitor General (ASG) [3rd]. Tushar Mehta reappointed as SGI for 3 more years from 1 July 2026 by ACC chaired by PM Modi. He became ASG in 2014 and SGI in October 2018. Five ASGs also reappointed including Vikramjit Banerjee and Aishwarya Bhati.

Exercise Khaan Quest 2026 — India–Mongolia
23rd edition of multilateral exercise KHAAN QUEST hosted by Mongolia at Five Hills Training Area, Ulaanbaatar (20 June – 3 July 2026). India deployed a 40-member contingent from the JAT Regiment. Over 1,000 personnel from 18 countries participated. Drills: checkpoint operations, cordon & search, patrolling, counter-IED, civilian evacuation, combat first aid. Focus: UN peacekeeping readiness.

Indian Navy Commissioning — Kolkata, 21 June 2026
PM Modi commissioned three platforms at Shyama Prasad Mookerjee Port, Kolkata: (1) INS Dunagiri — Advanced Guided Missile Frigate; (2) INS Sanshodhak — 4th Survey Vessel (Large); (3) INS Agray — Anti-Submarine Warfare Shallow Water Craft (ASW-SWC). All designed by Warship Design Bureau (WDB) and built by GRSE, Kolkata. 75%+ indigenous content; 200+ MSMEs involved.

Zerodha Fund House — India’s First Lifecycle Mutual Funds
Zerodha Fund House is India’s first passive-only, direct-only AMC. Launched India’s first lifecycle (target-date) funds: Zerodha Life Cycle Fund 2036 (10-year) and 2041 (15-year). SEBI approval: February 2026. Asset mix: equity (Nifty LargeMidcap 250), government debt, gold/silver, arbitrage. Min investment: Rs 100; no lock-in. NFO: 19 June – 7 July 2026. Global target-date AUM: USD 4 trillion+.

RBI KCC Guidelines — Collateral-Free Limit & Lead Bank Scheme
RBI exempted agricultural/allied sector loans up to Rs 2 lakh per borrower from collateral and margin requirements under the Kisan Credit Card (KCC) scheme. Voluntary pledge of gold/silver within this limit is not a violation. Revised Lead Bank Scheme (LBS) guidelines: one Lead Bank per district; a dedicated Lead District Manager (LDM) for each district. KCC directions 2026 effective from 1 January 2027. Covers Commercial Banks, SFBs, RRBs, and Rural Co-operative Banks.

FIH Women’s Nations Cup 2025–26 — India Champions
India defeated hosts New Zealand 2–0 in the final at Auckland, 21 June 2026. Goals by Navneet Kaur (4th min) and Sunelita Toppo (15th min). Win secured India’s promotion to FIH Pro League 2026–27 and strengthened LA 2028 Olympic qualification prospects. Hockey India prize: Rs 3 lakh per player, Rs 1.5 lakh per support staff. The FIH Nations Cup is the qualification tournament for the Women’s FIH Pro League.
