Observed on 4 July 2026 (first Saturday of July) — marking the 104th ICD and 32nd UN ICD. UN observance established by UNGA Resolution A/RES/47/90 (December 1992); first UN ICD observed in 1995. Co-observed with the International Cooperative Alliance (ICA) since 1995. 2026 theme: ‘Cooperatives for a Peaceful World’. First-ever Cooperative Day: 7 July 1923.

VB-GRAM G Scheme — Rural Employment & Livelihood
Full name: Viksit Bharat – Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (Gramin) Yojana. Launched from Mukkavaripalli village, Tirupati district, Andhra Pradesh by Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan (MoA&FW). Total outlay: Rs 7.5 lakh crore over 5 years (annual ~Rs 1.51 lakh crore). Centre contributes over Rs 95,692.31 crore; States contribute 40%. Also present: AP CM N Chandrababu Naidu and Deputy CM Pawan Kalyan.

India’s First PinS Instrument Approach Procedure
PinS = Private Point-in-Space. Approved by MoCA/DGCA for Undavalli Heliport, Amaravati, Andhra Pradesh. Developed by Airports Authority of India (AAI). Uses Performance-Based Navigation (PBN) via GNSS and India’s GAGAN (GPS Aided GEO Augmented Navigation). Enables safe helicopter IFR approaches without ground-based radar or ILS — critical for hilly and remote area operations.

CCEA Highway Projects — Delhi Tunnel & UP Greenfield
Total CCEA approval: Rs 14,114.81 crore. Delhi project (Rs 6,969.67 crore): 3.14 km twin-tube tunnel on NH 148AE under Southern Ridge, connecting Dwarka Expressway with Nelson Mandela Marg, Vasant Kunj — under NHAI HAM model. UP project (Rs 7,145.14 crore): 117.7-km 4-lane greenfield highway from Kanpur to Kabrai (Mahoba district) — part of Bhopal-Kanpur Economic Corridor, BOT toll model.
Defence & Technology
India’s First Indigenous Tactical Aerostat
Developed by IIT Delhi + DRDO + domestic startup. A balloon-based high-altitude platform with up to 20 km operational surveillance coverage. Carries EO cameras, IR sensors, and communication relay systems. Advantages: higher endurance and payload than drones; low-cost. Applications: defence surveillance, border security, disaster response, emergency communications. Promotes academia–DRDO–startup collaboration. DRDO est. 1958, HQ New Delhi.

ADB Loan for Karnataka School Improvement
ADB approved USD 182.89 million (JPY equivalent) for ‘Strengthening Karnataka Public Schools Program’ — establishing 500 integrated school clusters for over 1 million students (pre-primary to secondary). Co-financed by International Finance Facility for Education (IFFEd): USD 10 million grant + USD 25 million guarantee. Uses results-based lending approach; aligned with NEP 2020. Targets underserved areas.

Razorpay ‘Banking Connect’ — Mobile NetBanking
Launched by Razorpay in partnership with NPCI Bharat BillPay Limited (NBBL) — a wholly owned subsidiary of NPCI. A mobile-first NetBanking solution with unified multi-bank integration, QR-based and intent-driven payment flows. Single integration layer replaces multiple bank-specific systems. Partner banks: SBI, HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, Federal Bank, AU Small Finance Bank, YES Bank. NBBL operates the Bharat BillPay System (BBPS).

MECON Limited — Miniratna Category-I Status
Ministry of Steel granted Miniratna Category-I status to MECON Limited (Schedule ‘A’ CPSE). Category-I criteria (DPE): profit for 3 consecutive years, PBT ≥ Rs 30 crore in at least 1 of 3 years, positive net worth. MECON PBT: Rs 77.62 cr (FY24), Rs 32.08 cr (FY25), Rs 104.53 cr (FY26); net worth: Rs 535.42 crore. Miniratna Category-II requires only 3 years’ profit + positive net worth (no PBT threshold).

GI Tags — West Bengal & State Rankings (June 2026)
West Bengal received 23 new GI tags in 2026, totalling 59 — ranked 3rd in India. GI rankings (June 2026): 1st — Uttar Pradesh (83), 2nd — Tamil Nadu (76), 3rd — West Bengal (59). New WB GI products include jalbhora sandesh, Santiniketan batik, ektara, mecha sandesh, Banglar nolen gur, Krishnanagar clay dolls, sitalpati, Bengal singing bowl.

Prudential HCL Health Insurance — 8th Standalone Health Insurer
IRDAI granted R3 Certificate of Registration (CoR) at its 136th meeting (29 June 2026). JV between Prudential Group UK (70%) and HCL Group India (30%) — announced March 2025. India’s 8th standalone health insurer and 3rd registration in CY26. IRDAI R-licensing: R1 (promoter/plan assessment) → R2 (operational readiness) → R3 (final CoR). Minimum paid-up equity capital: Rs 100 crore.
