World Accreditation Day 2026 — Theme & Origin
Observed 9 June 2026. Theme: ‘Innovation, Trust and Sustainability: The Power of Accreditation’. Launched in 2007 by IAF (International Accreditation Forum) and ILAC (International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation); first observed 9 June 2008. The 2026 edition is the first under the newly formed Global Accreditation Cooperation Incorporated (Global ACI). Accreditation independently verifies that institutions meet defined quality standards.

BHAVYA Scheme & Portal — Industrial Parks
Bharat Audyogik Vikas Yojana (BHAVYA): Rs.33,660 crore flagship scheme to develop 100 world-class industrial parks over six years. Implemented by NICDC under DPIIT (Ministry of Commerce & Industry) on a 51:49 Centre-State partnership model. The BHAVYA Portal is a unified digital platform for DPRs, project appraisal, and real-time monitoring. Launched by Union Minister Piyush Goyal in June 2026. Targets manufacturing, MSMEs, and startups.

India ranked 5th largest military spender globally (2025) with USD 92.1 billion (up 8.9% from 2024). Nuclear arsenal: 190 warheads (January 2026), up from 180 in 2025. Global military spending: USD 2.9 trillion (11th consecutive annual rise; 2.5% of world GDP). Top spenders: USA (USD 954 bn), China (USD 336 bn), Russia (USD 190 bn). Total global nuclear warheads: ~12,187; 9,745 in military stockpiles.

Swaminathan Janakiraman re-appointed as RBI Deputy Governor for 2 years, effective 26 June 2026. First appointed in June 2023 for 3 years, replacing MK Jain. Oversees the Department of Supervision and Inspection. RBI Act 1934 mandates 4 Deputy Governors: two from within ranks, one commercial banker, one economist. Other DGs: Poonam Gupta, Shirish Chandra Murmu, Rohit Jain.

India–Nepal Bilateral Outcomes — June 2026
Nepal FM Shishir Khanal visited India 5–7 June 2026 (invited by EAM Jaishankar). Key outcomes: (1) UPI–NPI P2P linkage launch; (2) MoU between BHASHINI (MeitY) & Kathmandu University for multilingual language technology and DPI; (3) Handover of 84 India-funded reconstruction projects (post-2015 Earthquake). FM Khanal also met NSA Ajit Doval. No FTA was signed — a common distractor.

Account Aggregator Ecosystem & Sahamati Foundation as SRO
RBI recognised Sahamati Foundation as the Self-Regulatory Organisation (SRO) for India’s Account Aggregator (AA) ecosystem in June 2026. AA is a consent-based digital data-sharing framework regulated by RBI, enabling secure financial data sharing between individuals/businesses and authorised institutions. Scale: 1,120 regulated entities, 17 operational AAs, 294+ million linked accounts, 450+ million consent requests, 290+ million monthly transactions. Sahamati is now the representative governance body for all AA ecosystem participants.

Fitch lowered India’s FY27 GDP forecast by 30 bps to 6.4% (from 6.7%). Expected recovery: 6.7% in FY28, easing to 6.4% in FY29. India CPI: 3.5% (projected to rise to 5.3% by end-CY26); WPI: 8.3% YoY (April 2026). Global growth cut: 20 bps to 2.4% (CY26). APSEZ — Argentina LNG Marine Services Contract
Adani Ports & SEZ (APSEZ) secured a 10-year, USD 70 million marine services contract for Argentina’s first LNG export project — the Southern Energy FLNG Project in San Matias Gulf. Contract awarded to Adani Harbour International FZCO via JV with Meridian Group (APSEZ: 51%). Services: 4 tugboats, 1 AHTS vessel, 1 crew boat. Operations begin September 2027; annual LNG output: 2.45 MT. Marks APSEZ’s entry into South America. Argentina targets exporting up to 10 MT of LNG annually to India from 2027.
