Ryndia (Eri) Silk β GI Tag, Meghalaya
Ryndia is the Khasi name for eri silk, popularly called Peace Silk or Ahimsa Silk as no silkworms are killed during extraction. Derived from the castor (ryndia) plant, the GI tag was facilitated by Meghalaya’s Department of Textiles with NABARD support.

Skytrax 5-Star Rating β KIA T2, Bengaluru
KIA T2 (Kempegowda International Airport), Bengaluru became India’s first terminal to earn Skytrax’s 5-star rating at the World Airport Awards 2025. KIA ranked 48th globally and won Best Regional Airport in India & South Asia. Delhi IGIA ranked 32nd and won Best Airport in India and South Asia. Singapore Changi won World’s Best Airport for a record 13th time.

RBI MPC β Repo Rate Cut to 6.00%
The MPC’s 54th meeting (April 7β9, 2025), chaired by Governor Sanjay Malhotra, unanimously cut the repo rate by 25 bps to 6.00%. Consequent rates: SDF at 5.75%, MSF/Bank Rate at 6.25%. RBI also revised FY26 GDP growth projection to 6.5%.

ISA Country Partnership Framework β Mauritius
Mauritius became the 4th country and first in Africa to sign the ISA’s Country Partnership Framework (CPF), following Bangladesh, Bhutan, and Cuba. The International Solar Alliance was co-founded by India and France in 2015 and targets mobilising USD 1 trillion in solar investments by 2030. Plans include floating solar, agrivoltaics, and a STAR-C centre.

Artemis Accords β Bangladesh (54th Signatory)
Bangladesh became the 54th country to sign NASA’s Artemis Accords in April 2025. Established in October 2020 and grounded in the 1967 Outer Space Treaty, the Accords promote peaceful space exploration. Bangladesh’s benefits include technology transfer and capacity-building for SPARRSO (est. 1980).

National Safe Motherhood Day (April 11) marks the birth anniversary of Kasturba Gandhi (born April 11, 1869). India accounts for 15% of global maternal deaths (~44,000 annually).

Marvin Levy (d. April 2025) was the first and only publicist to receive an Honorary Academy Award, in 2018. RBI GDP Projection vs ADB β FY26 Comparison
