PM Modi departed 13 June 2026 for France and Slovakia. India chairs BRICS in 2026 for the fourth time (previous: 2012, 2016, 2021). Theme: ‘Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability’. BRICS now has 11 members: Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa, Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Indonesia. The 16th BRICS Agriculture Ministers’ Meeting (12–13 June, Indore) was hosted by Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and concluded with a Joint Declaration.

The 13th BRICS Urbanisation Forum (11–12 June 2026, New Delhi) was organised by MoHUA (Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs) and inaugurated by Union Minister Manohar Lal at Sushma Swaraj Bhavan. India has hosted it four times (2013, 2016, 2021 virtual, 2026). MoHUA is also the nodal ministry for Smart Cities Mission and AMRUT. Focus: inclusive urbanisation, climate-resilient cities, digital governance.

PM Modi’s visit to Slovakia (14–16 June 2026) is the first-ever by an Indian PM to Slovakia since its independence (1 January 1993, after peaceful dissolution of Czechoslovakia). Meetings with PM Robert Fico and President Peter Pellegrini. Slovakia is an EU member (since 2004) and NATO member.
