India-IFAD COSOP 2026-2033
Launched on 13 May 2026 at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi. 8-year Country Strategic Opportunities Programme (COSOP) by GoI and International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) — a UN specialised agency. Focus: rural prosperity, inclusive and climate-resilient development. Two priorities: (1) social, economic, and climate resilience of rural communities; (2) strengthening knowledge systems for Global South. NABARD signed a strategic partnership with IFAD.

Reasons: inadequate capital, weak earnings, inability to repay depositors, non-compliance with capital adequacy. Maharashtra Registrar of Co-operative Societies (RCS) to oversee winding-up. DICGC (wholly-owned RBI subsidiary) provides cover up to Rs 5 lakh per depositor per bank on savings, current, fixed, and recurring deposits.
