Bohag Bihu — Assamese New Year (Rongali / Shat Bihu)
Celebrated over seven days. Sequence: Day 1 — Goru Bihu (cattle worship, 14 April); Day 2 — Manuh Bihu (Assamese New Year for humans, 15 April); Day 3 — Gosain Bihu (idol worship). Three Bihu festivals: Bohag/Rongali (April), Kati/Kongali (October), Bhogali/Magh Bihu (January). The Gamosa (white cloth with red border) is the defining symbol of Assamese identity. Bihu dance is Assam’s state dance.

Himachal Pradesh — Formation & Statehood
HP formed as a Chief Commissioner Province on 15 April 1948 (Himachal Day). First Chief Commissioner: N.C. Mehta. Became Union Territory in 1956; granted full statehood on 25 January 1971 as India’s 18th state. First Chief Minister: Dr. Y.S. Parmar. Summer capital: Shimla. Winter capital: Dharamshala (since 2017 only — common exam trap). ‘Himachal’ = Hima (snow) + Achal (mountain).

Sindhi & the Eighth Schedule — 21st Amendment
Sindhi added to the Eighth Schedule via the 21st Constitutional Amendment Act, 1967. It is the only Eighth Schedule language without a dedicated state. VP C.P. Radhakrishnan released the Constitution in Sindhi in both Devanagari and Persian scripts on Sindhi Bhasha Diwas (10 April 2026). Ministry of Law and Justice initiative. The Eighth Schedule currently lists 22 scheduled languages.

ADB’s Asian Development Outlook (ADO) April 2026 titled ‘The Middle East Conflict Challenges Resilience in Asia and the Pacific’ upgraded India’s FY27 GDP forecast by 40 bps — from 6.5% to 6.9%. FY28 projection: 7.3%. Drivers: private consumption, public investment, salary revisions, favourable trade deals. Inflation: 2.1% (FY26) → 4.5% (FY27) → 4% (FY28). ICCR — Cultural Diplomacy & Doordarshan MoU
ICCR (Indian Council for Cultural Relations) established 1950, HQ: New Delhi, administered by Ministry of External Affairs (MEA). Doordarshan operates under Prasar Bharati (Prasar Bharati Act, 1990). MoU signed by K. Satish Nambudiripad (DG, DD) and K. Nandini Singla (DG, ICCR). 3-year agreement allowing DD’s TV, radio & digital platforms to amplify ICCR cultural content via Indian Missions abroad. Joint perpetual content rights.

Artemis II set new record: 252,756 miles (406,900 km) from Earth, surpassing Apollo 13’s 248,655 miles (1970).
