Notified by MoC&I / DPIIT. Primary Implementation Agency: SIDBI; a second domestic IA will also be appointed. Corpus: Rs 10,000 crore across 16th and 17th Finance Commission cycles. Invests in SEBI-registered AIFs → equity/equity-linked instruments of DPIIT-recognised startups; focus on deep tech, early-stage, innovative manufacturing. EC chaired by Secretary DPIIT Amardeep Singh Bhatia. FoF 1.0 (2016): Rs 10,000 crore → 145 AIFs → Rs 25,500 crore+ into 1,370+ startups.

Delhi-Dehradun Economic Corridor — Asia’s Longest Elevated Wildlife Corridor
Inaugurated by PM Modi on 14 April 2026. Total length: 213 km (Akshardham, Delhi → Dehradun, Uttarakhand). Cost: Rs 12,000+ crore (NHAI, MoRTH). Elevated wildlife corridor: 12 km (Asia’s longest) through Shivalik forests — includes 8 animal passages, 2 elephant underpasses, 370-m tunnel near Daat Kali Temple. Travel time: 6.5 hrs → 2.5 hrs. Features: 10 interchanges, 3 ROBs, 4 major bridges, 5 toll plazas, 12 wayside amenities.

9th Indian Ocean Conference (IOC 2026) — Mauritius
Held: 10–12 April 2026, Port Louis, Mauritius. Theme: ‘Collective Stewardship for Indian Ocean Governance’. Organised by India Foundation in association with the Government of Mauritius. EAM Jaishankar delivered the keynote address. The Indian Ocean accounts for ~40% of global oil trade. Key chokepoints discussed: Bab-el-Mandeb and Strait of Hormuz. India’s broader Indian Ocean vision: SAGAR (Security And Growth for All in the Region), articulated by PM Modi in 2015.

Iraq’s New President — Nizar Amedi
Elected 11 April 2026, Baghdad. Secured 227 votes in the second round; defeated Muthanna Amin Nader (15 votes). Nominee of Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK); previously Iraq’s Environment Minister (2022–2024). Born 1968, Duhok; mechanical engineering degree, University of Mosul. He is the 6th Iraqi Head of State since Saddam Hussein’s removal in 2003. Succeeds Abdul Latif Rashid (also PUK). Muhasasah system: President = Kurd; PM = Shia; Speaker = Sunni. Launched: 12 April 2026 by Indian Army’s Trishakti Corps, East Sikkim (near India-China border). Frequency: 88.4 MHz FM. Significance: first border village community radio station in Sikkim. Operates under Vibrant Villages Programme (VVP) — GoI programme for last-mile connectivity in border villages. Features: UPS + solar backup; Google Play Store app streaming. Vingroup (Vietnam’s largest private conglomerate) signed MoU with Maharashtra for USD 6.5 billion (~Rs 54,000 crore) over 2 years. Breakdown: (1) Urban Development — USD 5 billion: integrated smart townships over 1,000 hectares (Mumbai 3.0 concept), ~2 lakh residents in MMR; (2) Electric Mobility — USD 1.5 billion: 60,000 EVs (taxis/MaaS) via GSM (Green and Smart Mobility) India + statewide EV charging network.
