Observed on 14 April annually. Disease caused by Trypanosoma cruzi (protozoan parasite); classified as a Neglected Tropical Disease (NTD). First identified on 14 April 1909 by Carlos Justiniano Ribeiro Chagas in Brazil. Day designated by WHO at the 72nd WHA (May 2019). 2026 theme: ‘Women at the Heart: Protecting the Next Generation from Chagas Disease.’ Note: 7 April = World Health Day; 25 April = World Malaria Day.

India’s First Chip Fabrication Plant — Dholera SEZ
Notified by MoC&I in April 2026. To be established by Tata Semiconductor Manufacturing Pvt. Ltd. (TSMPL) at Dholera SEZ, Gujarat. Proposed investment: Rs 91,000 crore. Area: 66.166 hectares. Follows amendments to SEZ Rules 2006 (2025). Part of ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ mission to reduce semiconductor import dependence.
