Observed on the Wednesday of the last full week in April — in 2026, this was 22 April. Administrative Professionals Week (APW) 2026: 19–25 April 2026. First declared as National Secretaries Week in 1952 by Charles W. Sawyer (US Secretary of Commerce). IAAP (International Association of Administrative Professionals) was founded in 1942 as the National Secretaries Association.

India–Maldives: SAARC Currency Swap
India approved a Rs 30 billion currency swap for the Maldives under the SAARC Currency Swap Framework (INR Swap Window, 2024–2027). Signed between RBI and the Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA). Total RBI swap support to Maldives since 2012: USD 1.1 billion. SAARC founded in 1985; HQ: Kathmandu, Nepal.

Srikanth Velamakanni (Co-Founder & Group CEO, Fractal) appointed Nasscom Chairman for 2026–27. Succeeded Sindhu Gangadharan (MD, SAP Labs India). New Vice Chairperson: Kishor Patil (Co-founder, CEO & MD, KPIT Technologies). Nasscom founded in 1988; HQ: New Delhi; represents over 3,000 IT/BPM companies.

India–Czech Republic JCEC — 13th Session
Union MoS Jitin Prasada (MoC&I) visited Prague on 22–23 April 2026, co-chairing the 13th session of India-Czech Republic JCEC with Czech counterpart Jan Sechter. Protocol of the 13th JCEC was signed. Both leaders jointly inaugurated the India-Czech Business Forum to strengthen B2B linkages, trade, and investment cooperation.

ACC (chaired by PM Modi) extended tenures for: Rajneesh Karnatak (Bank of India, from 29 Apr 2026) and Debadatta Chand (Bank of Baroda, from 1 Jul 2026) — both for 3 years until 2029. Also: Ashutosh Choudhary extended as ED of Indian Bank till May 2029; P. N. Vasudevan re-appointed MD & CEO of Equitas SFB till July 2029.

Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope
NASA unveiled this wide-field observatory to study dark matter and dark energy (~95% of the universe). Named after Nancy Grace Roman — NASA’s first Chief Astronomer, called the ‘mother of the Hubble Space Telescope.’ Cost: USD 4 billion; positioned 1.5 million km from Earth; transmits ~11 TB of data daily.

FIFA Women’s Development Programme — India Selected
FIFA selected India as one of 12 countries for its Women’s Development Programme (Commercial Strategy 2026), following application by the All India Football Federation (AIFF). Other countries: Germany, Netherlands, Sweden, Scotland, Canada, Mexico, Finland, Ghana, Jordan, Lithuania, Paraguay. Programme prepares clubs for the AFC club licensing system. Jio Financial Services — Allianz JV for Insurance
Jio Financial Services Limited (JFSL) signed a binding 50:50 JV with Allianz Europe B.V. (wholly-owned subsidiary of Allianz Group, Germany) for general and health insurance in India. First announced in July 2025 (non-binding term sheet). Also formed a separate JV: Allianz Jio Reinsurance Limited. Allianz Group founded in 1890; HQ: Munich, Germany.

BharatGen + L&T: India’s Sovereign AI Platform
BharatGen Technology Foundation (BTF) signed a 5-year MoU with L&T Semiconductor Technologies (LTSCT) and L&T-Vyoma to build India’s Sovereign AI compute platform. Approved under IndiaAI by the Digital India Corporation (DIC), MeitY. L&T-Vyoma: 30 MW hyperscale data centre in Kanchipuram, Tamil Nadu. Signed in presence of PSA Ajay Kumar Sood.

Gen. Upendra Dwivedi — USAWC Hall of Fame
General Upendra Dwivedi (COAS, Indian Army) inducted into the International Hall of Fame of the US Army War College (USAWC) at Carlisle Barracks, Pennsylvania in April 2026. He is the third Indian Army Chief to receive this honour — after General V. K. Singh and General Bikram Singh. USAWC HoF recognises leaders for contributions to national security and global military cooperation.
