MAHSR Mountain Tunnel MT-6 Breakthrough
The MT-6 tunnel (454m long, 14.4m wide) of the Mumbai-Ahmedabad High Speed Rail project was completed in Palghar, Maharashtra using the New Austrian Tunnelling Method (NATM). Announced by Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on February 3, 2026.

BCSL was established under MoPSW to create an integrated domestic container ecosystem. Containerised cargo accounts for nearly two-thirds of India’s international trade value. MoU partners include SCI, CONCOR, JNPA, VoCPA, Chennai Port Authority, and SMFCL.

Exercise KHANJAR-XIII: India-Kyrgyzstan
The 13th edition of the India-Kyrgyzstan joint exercise commenced on February 4, 2026 at Misamari, Sonitpur district, Assam. It involves the Parachute Regiment (Special Forces) and Kyrgyzstan’s Scorpion Brigade, focusing on urban warfare and counter-terrorism.

India’s First Green Urea Plant
NTPC Green Energy Limited and Assago Industries signed an MoU for India’s first large-scale Green Urea facility at the Pudimadaka Green Hydrogen Hub near Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh. Capacity: 1,000 TPD; total hub capacity: 2.5 MTPA of green chemicals.

16th Finance Commission: Tax Devolution
The 16th Finance Commission retained the states’ share in central taxes at 41% for 2026-31, maintaining continuity from the 15th FC. The report was tabled by FM Nirmala Sitharaman on February 1, 2026. The 41% share has been in effect since 2021.

Goldman Sachs raised India’s CY26 GDP growth forecast by 20 bps to 6.9% following the US-India trade deal reducing reciprocal tariffs from 25% to 18%. India’s goods trade surplus with the US doubled to ~USD 40 billion, led by electronics, pharmaceuticals, and textiles.
