NITI Aayog — Strategic Roadmap for Making Ayurveda Global
Released by NITI Aayog in collaboration with PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC). Launched by VC Dr. Ashok Kumar Lahiri; also present: Prof. M. Srinivas (NITI Aayog Member) and Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha (AYUSH Secretary). Three pillars: Availability (workforce, exports, R&D, education); Acceptability (regulation, insurance, collaborations); Propagation (branding, medical value travel, global visibility). Goal: evidence-based global Ayurveda system by 2047, aligned with Viksit Bharat@2047.

General Dhiraj Seth assumed charge as 31st Chief of Army Staff (COAS). Unveiled the ‘VIJAY’ roadmap: V — Vigilance; I — Innovation and Transformation; J — Jointness and Integration (tri-services synergy); A — Aatmanirbharta (self-reliant defence); Y — Yodha First (training, skilling, welfare of Agniveers, veterans, Veer Naris). Aims to build a technology-driven, future-ready force aligned with Viksit Bharat 2047.

16th India-Japan Annual Summit — Key Outcomes
Japanese PM Sanae Takaichi visited India (July 1–3, 2026) for the 16th India-Japan Annual Summit. Key outcomes: 129 MoUs worth Rs 1 lakh crore signed; cooperation in AI, economic security, clean energy, critical minerals, mobility, biotech, pharma. Maruti Suzuki’s 4th manufacturing plant inaugurated at Kharkhoda, Haryana. India’s first-ever defence co-development project: UNICORN (Unified Complex Radio Antenna) system for Indian Navy. Sustainable Development Report 2026 — India’s Ranking
Published by UNSDSN (UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network) — 11th Edition. India ranked 94th (score: 68.3/100) among 167 countries — highest-ever rank, up from 99th (2025), improved 18 ranks since 2015. Top 3: Finland (87.4), Sweden (86.3), Denmark (85.7). India challenges: 13 of 17 SDGs; biggest concern: Zero Hunger (SDG 2). Positive progress: SDG 7 (electricity) & SDG 9 (digital connectivity). Only 33.3% of SDG targets on track for 2030.

Air India–SIAEC MRO MoU & Singapore Airlines Stake
Air India signed MoU with SIA Engineering Company (SIAEC) in Mumbai for MRO (Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul) collaboration. MoU signed by Campbell Wilson (Air India CEO & MD) and Chin Yau Seng (SIAEC CEO). Singapore Airlines holds 25.1% stake in Air India; Tata Sons holds 74.9%. Air India history: founded 1932 by J.R.D. Tata as Tata Airlines → nationalised 1953 → reacquired by Tata Group January 2022.

ITU AI for Good Global Commission — India’s Founders
Launched by ITU (International Telecommunication Union) in Geneva with 44 founding members. Co-chaired by Paul Kagame (President, Rwanda) and Marc Benioff (CEO, Salesforce). Vice-Chair: Doreen Bogdan-Martin (ITU SG). Indian founders: Mukesh Ambani (Reliance), Sunil Mittal (Bharti Airtel), Lakshmi N. Mittal (ArcelorMittal). Also includes Jensen Huang (NVIDIA), Andy Jassy (Amazon), Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala (WTO DG). Aims for equitable AI and digital inclusion globally.

ADB Chennai Water Supply — First Indian City Ring-Main System
ADB approved USD 230 million (~Rs 1,920 crore) loan for Chennai water supply and sanitation. Project components: 170 km of new pipelines, upgradation of 7 water pumping stations, modernisation of 38 sewer pumping stations. Milestone: Chennai becomes first Indian city to implement a ring-main water distribution system across its entire urban network. Aligned with AMRUT 2.0 and the Urban Challenge Fund.

Peru Presidential Election 2026 — Keiko Fujimori
Keiko Fujimori (Popular Force party) won the 2026 Peru Presidential Election runoff. Takes office 28 July 2026, succeeding interim President José María Balcázar — becoming Peru’s 10th President in a decade. Daughter of former President Alberto Fujimori; First Lady 1994–2000. Led Popular Force Party since 2010; contested elections in 2011, 2016, 2021, and 2026. Member of Congress for Lima (2006–2011).

New Species: Cyttopsis indica — CMFRI Deep-Sea Discovery
Discovered by ICAR-CMFRI in the Arabian Sea off Kerala coast (eastern Lakshadweep Sea). Found at 350–500 metres depth. Species: Cyttopsis indica (Indian dory); genus Cyttopsis — primitive marine ‘dory’ fish. Published in Indian Journal of Fisheries. DNA analysis confirmed distinct structures unique to the Indian Ocean — differentiating it from Atlantic species Cyttopsis rosea. CMFRI is under the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR).

AEL–IRH Odisha Aluminium Project — India’s Largest Metallurgy FDI
Adani Enterprises Limited (AEL) and International Resources Holdings (IRH) (Abu Dhabi-based IHC group) signed MoU with Government of Odisha. Project value: USD 11.5 billion (Rs 1.08 lakh crore) — 50:50 JV. Components: 4 MMTPA alumina refinery, 2 MMTPA aluminium smelter, 4,000 MW captive power plant, 1 MMTPA downstream park. Phase I: Rs 66,000 cr; Phase II: Rs 44,000 cr. Jobs: ~53,500. Odisha’s largest FDI and India’s biggest-ever FDI in metallurgy.
