Observed annually on 6 July to raise awareness about zoonotic diseases (transmitted from animals to humans). Commemorates Louis Pasteur administering the world’s first human rabies vaccine in July 1885 to Joseph Meister. Key zoonoses: rabies, Ebola, COVID-19, H5N1, Nipah. Supported by WHO, FAO, and WOAH (formerly OIE).

Delhi’s ‘Clean Air, Healthy Delhi’ — Rs 8,300 Crore Project
Announced by CM Rekha Gupta with World Bank support. Aims to accelerate the National Clean Air Programme (NCAP), launched in 2019 by MoEFCC with target of 20–30% reduction in PM10 & PM2.5 by 2024 (base year 2017). Implemented by 8 Delhi agencies including DPCC, MCD, Delhi Jal Board, NDMC, and Delhi Traffic Police.

Defence Acquisition Council (DAC) — highest decision-making body for defence acquisitions, established 2001, chaired by Rajnath Singh. Key approvals: AKASH TARANG — Advanced Anti-UAV Electronic Warfare System (Army); MPATGM, MRSAM, V-SHORADS, Active Protection System for Tanks; FW-HAPS (Fixed-Wing High-Altitude Pseudo Satellites) for IAF.

India–Mali Trade Relations
Inaugural India-Mali Forum for the Promotion of Exports held in Bamako (Mali’s capital), July 2026. Bilateral trade: USD 326.61 million (FY26), 55% growth over FY25. Mali exports: raw cotton, leather, cashew, gum arabic. India exports: pharmaceuticals, cotton fabrics. India’s DFTP Scheme (2008) provides duty-free access for LDCs. Vision Mali 2063 Investment Forum planned for December 2026.

ISRO SOLVE — First Ground Test for Gaganyaan
SOLVE = Sub-Orbital Launch Vehicle for Experiments. First ground test at SDSC, Sriharikota, AP (July 2026). Uses modified PSLV strap-on motor, slow-burning solid propellant, SITVC, and 10-stage parachute system. Validates parachute trials for Gaganyaan Crew Module; simulates deceleration at 10–17 km altitude. Gaganyaan goal: send 3-member crew to LEO for 3 days.

SBI Acquires NHB Stake in RDCL
RDCL = RMBS Development Company Limited — middle-layer NBFC for residential mortgage-backed securitisation, est. 2024, paid-up capital Rs 500 crore. SBI acquires 10% stake from NHB; NHB’s holding: 39% → 29%. Other shareholders: LIC (10%), HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, Bajaj Finance (7% each). Deepens India’s secondary mortgage market.

Held at Rajasthan International Centre, Jaipur (July 1–2, 2026). Organised by DARPG, MeitY, and Government of Rajasthan. Inaugurated by CM Bhajanlal Sharma. Theme: ‘Viksit Bharat 2047: AI-enabled, Data-driven & Secure Digital Governance.’ Adopted the Jaipur Declaration on e-Governance 2026. Awards: 10 Gold (Rs 10L each), 6 Silver (Rs 5L each), 1 Jury Award. NaCeG held annually since 1995.

Tshering Choden (Sikkim) scaled Mt. Elbrus (5,642 m), Europe’s highest peak — 2nd of her Seven Summits (after Kilimanjaro, Aug 2025). Elbrus: Caucasus range, southern Russia; dormant stratovolcano. Seven Summits: Everest (Asia), Aconcagua (S. America), Denali (N. America), Kilimanjaro (Africa), Elbrus (Europe), Vinson (Antarctica), Kosciuszko (Australia).
