Two final projects under ISM 1.0 approved in May 2026. Crystal Matrix Limited (CML): India’s first commercial GaN (Gallium Nitride) Technology-based Mini/Micro-LED display facility, Gujarat. Suchi Semicon Private Limited (SSPL): semiconductor packaging unit, Gujarat. Combined investment: ~Rs 3,936 crore; expected to generate 2,230 skilled jobs. ISM 1.0 launched December 2021 under MeitY with Rs 76,000 crore outlay; administered by Digital India Corporation.

ECLGS 5.0 — Emergency Credit for MSMEs
ECLGS 5.0 approved with outlay of Rs 18,100 crore to address liquidity stress from the West Asia conflict. Guarantee coverage: 100% for MSMEs; 90% for non-MSMEs and airlines via NCGTC (National Credit Guarantee Trustee Company Limited). Eligible: MSMEs and airlines with outstanding credit as of 31 March 2026. ECLGS originally launched during COVID-19; 5th iteration (following ECLGS 1.0–4.0). Eligible accounts must be standard (non-NPA).

CCEA Approvals — Railway & Ship Repair Projects
CCEA approved (5 May 2026): (1) Rs 1,570 crore ship repair facility at Vadinar, Gujarat — joint venture of Deendayal Port Authority (DPA) and Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL); 650-metre jetty and two floating dry docks. (2) Rs 23,437 crore railway multi-tracking across 19 districts in 6 states (MP, Rajasthan, UP, Karnataka, AP, Telangana). Key lines: Nagda–Mathura, Guntakal–Wadi, Burhwal–Sitapur. (3) SC judge strength raised from 33 to 37 (excluding CJI).

DPIIT Revised FDI SOP — China-Linked Sectors
DPIIT (MoCI) issued revised SOP for 60-day FDI clearance from land-border countries (China, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal, Bhutan, Myanmar, Afghanistan). Covers 40 sub-sectors under 6 main segments: capital goods manufacturing, electronic capital goods & components, advanced battery components, polysilicon & wafers, rare earth processing, rare earth permanent magnets. Includes Printed Circuit Boards (PCBs). Governed by FEMA (Mode of Payment and Reporting of Non-debt Instruments) Regulations, 2019.

RBSK 2.0 — ‘4Ds Framework’ for Child Health
RBSK (Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram) 2.0 Guidelines launched at the 10th National Summit on Good Practices and Innovations, Chandigarh. 4Ds Framework: Defects at Birth, Diseases, Deficiencies, Developmental Delays — now includes mental health, behavioural disorders, and NCDs (diabetes, hypertension). Coverage: birth to 18 years. Features: digital health cards, real-time data systems, preventive-promotive-curative continuum. Under National Health Mission (NHM). Swasth Bharat Portal also launched at same summit.

BEL–GBMES Deal — Buy Indian-IDDM Category
MoD signed Rs 1,476 crore contract with Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) for 5 Ground-Based Mobile Electronic Systems (GBMES) for the Indian Army. Procurement category: Buy Indian-IDDM (Indigenously Designed, Developed and Manufactured) — minimum 72% indigenous content. Designed by Defence Electronics Research Laboratory (DLRL), DRDO. Capabilities: ELINT (Electronic Intelligence) and COMINT (Communications Intelligence). BEL: Central PSU under MoD; established 1954; HQ: Bengaluru.

IOM World Migration Report 2026 — India’s Remittances
India: world’s top remittance recipient since 2010; received USD 137+ billion in 2024 — only country to surpass USD 100 billion. Source: IOM World Migration Report 2026 (13th edition). Top 5 recipients: India > Mexico (USD 67.6 bn) > Philippines (USD 40.3 bn) > France (USD 38.8 bn) > Pakistan (USD 34.9 bn). Largest sender: USA (USD 100+ bn). SCB Credit Growth — FY26 Non-Food Credit Data
Scheduled Commercial Banks (SCBs) recorded 15.9% YoY non-food credit growth in FY26 — up 497 basis points from 10.9% in FY25. Services sector: highest growth at 19% (~28% share of total credit). Industrial sector: ~15.0% (vs 8.2% in FY25). Agriculture & Allied: 15.7% (vs 10.4% in FY25). Reflects strong rural demand, improved farm sector credit flow, and services expansion — reinforcing India’s economic resilience amid the West Asia conflict.

EAM Jaishankar’s Jamaica Visit — India-CARICOM Ties
Jaishankar’s Jamaica visit (May 2–4, 2026): first bilateral visit by an Indian EAM to the Caribbean. Met PM Andrew Michael Holness and FM Kamina Elizabeth Johnson Smith. 3 MoUs signed: health cooperation, solarisation of Hugh Lawson Shearer Building, broadcasting. Also reviewed: digital transformation, culture, sports, digital payments. Jamaica is a CARICOM member state. India has a significant Indian-origin diaspora in the Caribbean. Reflects India’s South-South partnership strategy.

Nagaland — 100 Days Ayushman Student Coverage Mission
Nagaland launched ‘100 Days Ayushman Student Coverage Mission’ (May–August 2026): first student-centric health saturation drive in North East India. Extension of AB-PMJAY (Ayushman Bharat PM-JAY) and Nagaland’s CMHIS (Chief Minister’s Health Insurance Scheme). Implemented by Nagaland Health Protection Society (NHPS) with district administrations. Features: on-campus registration and health card generation camps in schools and colleges.
