In April 2025, the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI), Hyderabad, imposed a total penalty of Rs 1.06 crore on Bengaluru-based Flipkart Internet Private Limited (FIPL) for breaching online insurance distribution norms.

April 14, 2025 marked the 134th birth anniversary of Dr. Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar — jurist, economist, social reformer, and principal architect of the Constitution of India. The day is observed as Ambedkar Jayanti or Equality Day.

• Born April 14, 1891, at Mhow (now Dr. Ambedkar Nagar), Madhya Pradesh
• Served as India’s first Law Minister and chaired the Constitution Drafting Committee — steering the creation of the world’s longest written constitution
• Founded the Scheduled Castes Federation (1942) and the Republican Party of India (1956); established the Dr. Ambedkar Institute of Social and Economic Research, Mumbai
• Awarded the Bharat Ratna — India’s highest civilian honour — posthumously in 1990

In April 2025, celebrated Kathak dancer Kumudini Lakhia passed away at the age of 95 in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. Born on May 17, 1930, she was one of India’s most distinguished classical dance personalities.

• Founded Kadamb: Centre for Dance and Music in Ahmedabad in 1964 — an internationally acclaimed institution for Kathak training

In April 2025, renowned environmentalist Daripalli Ramaiah — known as ‘Vanajeevi Ramaiah’ and ‘Chettu Ramaiah’ — passed away at the age of 87. A potter by profession from Reddipalli village, Khammam Rural mandal, Telangana, he dedicated his life to tree plantation.

• Believed to have planted over one crore (10 million) trees across Telangana and Andhra Pradesh — earning the title ‘Tree Man of India’
