Scientists from Gauhati University discovered a new plant species — Osbeckia zubeengargiana — in the grasslands of Manas National Park, Assam, during botanical surveys (2021–2025). The species was named after Assamese singer Zubeen Garg to honour his cultural contribution to Assam’s identity.
