India ranked 99th in the Sustainable Development Report 2025, marking its first entry into the top 100 with a score of 66.95, improving from 109th in 2024.

The report highlighted that only 17% of SDG targets are globally on track for 2030, with major challenges in climate action, biodiversity, and governance.

🇮🇳 National News
As of June 2025, India’s total installed electricity generation capacity has risen to 476 Gigawatts (GW), up from 305 GW in 2015–16.
Nearly 49% (235.7 GW) now comes from non-fossil fuel sources:
- Renewable energy: 226.9 GW
- Nuclear power: 8.8 GW
Thermal power continues to dominate with 50.52% share (240 GW), of which coal accounts for more than 91%.

Tripura has achieved 95.6% literacy, becoming India’s third fully literate state after Mizoram and Goa, as per Government of India norms.
This milestone was achieved through the ULLAS – New India Literacy Programme, launched in alignment with NEP 2020.
The programme focused on foundational literacy, vocational skills, life skills, and continuing education, supported by over 2,200 volunteer teachers and 943 social awareness centres delivering multilingual instruction in Bengali, English, and Kokborok.

The Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI) has formed an 8-member Technical Expert Group (TEG) chaired by Dr. Surjit S. Bhalla to design India’s first comprehensive Household Income Survey, scheduled for February 2026.
Conducted by the National Statistical Office (NSO), the survey will address long-standing data gaps related to income distribution, wage inequality, and regional disparities.
Adani New Industries Limited commissioned India’s first off-grid 5 MW green hydrogen pilot plant at Kutch, Gujarat, powered entirely by solar energy with Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) integration.
The plant operates through electrolysis, producing hydrogen with zero carbon emissions. It serves as a proof-of-concept for Adani’s upcoming Green Hydrogen Hub at Mundra.

The ICMR–National Institute of Immunohaematology (NIIH) has launched India’s first Rare Donor Registry of India (RDRI) to improve access to rare blood types, especially for patients with thalassemia and sickle cell disease.

- 600+ rare antigen-negative donors
- 250 extremely rare blood donors
- 170 Bombay blood group donors
Integrated with e-Raktkosh, it enables real-time tracking across 4,000+ blood banks, positioning India among 27 countries with national rare blood registries.

S&P Global Ratings raised India’s FY26 GDP growth forecast to 6.5%, citing lower crude prices, tax relief, monetary easing, and a normal monsoon.
