On 2 May 2025, NITI Aayog (in collaboration with Institute for Competitiveness, Gurgaon) released ‘Enhancing MSMEs Competitiveness in India’ — a strategic roadmap for reforms in financing, skilling, innovation, and market access for India’s MSMEs.

Union Minister Amit Shah unveiled a 9-feet life-size statue of Bodofa Upendranath Brahma and renamed Lala Lajpat Rai Road in south Delhi to Bodofa Upendranath Brahma Marg (835-metre stretch near Kailash Colony Metro Station) on his 35th death anniversary. Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma and Delhi CM Rekha Gupta were present.
‘Bodofa’ meaning ‘father of the Bodos’ — a visionary Assamese leader and social reformer who championed tribal rights, identity, and dignity through his philosophy of ‘Live and Let Live’. He united tribal communities and led peaceful advocacy for their upliftment.

The USA approved a Foreign Military Sale (FMS) worth USD 131 million (~₹1,090 crore) to India to enhance maritime security in the Indo-Pacific, under the Indo-Pacific Maritime Domain Awareness (IPMDA) programme — a Quad (Australia, India, Japan, USA) joint initiative.
The Defence Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA) notified the U.S. Congress. Key components include:
- SeaVision software (with enhancements)
- Documentation and remote analytical support
- Technical Assistance Field Team (TAFT) training

On 2 May 2025, S&P Global Ratings revised its report ‘Global Macro Update: Seismic Shift in US Trade Policy Will Slow World Growth’, cutting India’s FY26 GDP forecast by 20 bps to 6.3% (from 6.5% in March 2025). FY27 forecast cut by 30 bps to 6.5%.

🕊️ Obituaries
Professor Sunny Thomas, former National Rifle Shooting Coach and first shooting coach to receive the Dronacharya Award (2001), passed away at age 83 in Uzhavoor, Kottayam, Kerala. Born: 1941, Kottayam.
He served as India’s national shooting coach for 19 years (1993–2012). Under his tenure, Indian shooters won:
- 4 Olympic medals — including Abhinav Bindra’s historic first individual Olympic gold (10m Air Rifle, Beijing 2008)
- Medals at 6 World Championships, 50+ World Cups, 6 Asian Games, and 5 Commonwealth Games
A five-time Kerala state champion and National Champion (1976), he joined the Kottayam Rifle Club in 1965. He was also an English Professor and took up coaching after retiring from academia in 1993.
Veteran Congress leader and former Union Minister Dr. Girija Vyas passed away at age 79 in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. Born: 1946, Nathdwara, Rajsamand, Rajasthan.
