PM Modi Lays Foundation for India’s First Joint-Venture Nuclear Power Plant

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Mahi Banswara Rajasthan Atomic Power Project in Banswara, Rajasthan, marking a milestone in India’s nuclear energy sector.

The project is being developed by Anushakti Vidhyut Nigam Limited (ASHVINI) — a joint venture between NPCIL and NTPC Limited, making it India’s first nuclear project jointly operated by two CPSEs.

⚛️ Significance

JNPA Launches India’s First Fleet of Electric Heavy Trucks with Swappable Batteries

Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal launched India’s first electric heavy truck fleet equipped with swappable batteries at the Nhava Sheva Distribution Terminal, under Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA).

This positions JNPA as the Indian port with the largest fleet of electric heavy vehicles, promoting eco-friendly logistics and reduced carbon emissions.

  • A heavy-duty battery swapping station was also inaugurated
  • JNPA aims to convert 90% of its 600-vehicle fleet to electric by December 2026
📝 MoU Signed

An MoU was signed between JNPA and Isaac Centre for Public Policy (ICPP), Ashoka University to develop a reference framework for port tariff determination.

Kerala Inaugurates Museum Honoring Artist A. Ramachandran

A museum dedicated to A. Ramachandran, one of India’s most acclaimed modern painters, has been inaugurated in Kollam, Kerala, by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan.

The museum is part of the Sree Narayana Guru Cultural Complex. This tribute follows Ramachandran’s passing in February 2024 at age 88.

His Artistic Legacy:

  • Early works portrayed human suffering and social struggles
  • Later pieces highlighted nature, myth, and rural India

India Wins ISSA Award 2025 for Expanding Social Security

India has received the International Social Security Association (ISSA) Award 2025 for its outstanding achievement in expanding social protection coverage.

The award was presented at the World Social Security Forum (WSSF) 2025 held in Kuala Lumpur, attended by 1,200+ global policymakers from 163 countries.

SAIL Partners with IIM Jammu for Executive Education

Indian Air Force Retires MiG-21 Fleet After Six Decades of Service

On September 26, 2025, the Indian Air Force (IAF) officially retired its MiG-21 fighter jets, with the final two squadrons — No. 23 (Panthers) and No. 3 (Cobras) — decommissioned at Chandigarh.

The retirement ends a six-decade legacy of Soviet-origin jets inducted in 1963.

Supreme Court Approves JSW Steel’s $2.3 Billion Takeover of Bhushan Power

The Supreme Court of India has cleared JSW Steel’s $2.3 billion (₹19,350 crore) acquisition of Bhushan Power and Steel Limited (BPSL), overturning its earlier liquidation directive.

The verdict reinforces the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code (IBC), 2016, emphasizing revival over liquidation of distressed entities.

Acquired in 2021, BPSL continues to contribute significantly to JSW’s revenue and profitability.

India and China to Resume Direct Flights by Late October 2025

India and China have agreed to restore direct flight services between designated cities by late October 2025, signaling progress in diplomatic and people-to-people relations.

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) confirmed the announcement after technical-level meetings between civil aviation authorities of both countries.

  • Direct flights were suspended during COVID-19 and remained halted due to border tensions since 2020
  • Both sides have been revising the Air Services Agreement since early 2025
