Indian Railways Tests Asia’s Longest Freight Train ‘Rudrastra’
- Indian Railways successfully carried out the trial run of ‘Rudrastra’, Asia’s longest freight train, measuring 4.5 km in length.
- The trial run covered a 209 km route from Ganjkhwaja (Uttar Pradesh) to Garhwa (Jharkhand) in 5 hours 10 minutes, averaging 5 km/h.
- The train consists of 345 wagons and 7 locomotives, created by linking three long-haul racks, essentially aligning five goods trains.
- Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw described it as the longest freight train in Bharat, designed to boost transportation efficiency, cut travel time, save operational costs, and accelerate freight movement from DDU to Dhanbad Division.
Aadhaar Face Authentication Records 19.36 Crore Transactions in July 2025
- Aadhaar-based face authentication reached an all-time high of 36 crore transactions in July 2025, up from 5.77 crore in July 2024.
- This reflects a 22% rise compared to June 2025, with 22 crore transactions on a single day — 1 July 2025.
- Over 150 organisations across banking, telecom, oil, and government sectors now use this AI-powered, contactless verification system.
- Major integrations include NSAP, NMC medical colleges, and recruitment agencies like SSC and RRB.
- Total Aadhaar authentication transactions reached 221 crore, with e-KYC contributing 56 crore, highlighting its growing role in welfare delivery and digital governance.
GeM Celebrates 9th Anniversary, Achieves ₹5.4 Lakh Crore GMV in FY 2024–25
- The Government e Marketplace (GeM) completed 9 years in 2025, recording a Gross Merchandise Value (GMV) of ₹5.4 lakh crore in FY 2024–25.
- Since launching in 2016, GeM has onboarded 5 lakh women-led enterprises, startups, self-help groups (SHGs), artisans, and micro & small enterprises (MSEs), supporting fair and transparent public procurement.
- Key reforms include removal of caution money, vendor fee rationalization, and reduced transaction charges, benefiting 97% of total orders.
PM’s ‘Mann Ki Baat’ Generates Over ₹34 Crore Since 2014
- Union Minister L Murugan revealed that ‘Mann Ki Baat’, Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s radio address, has earned ₹34.13 crore in revenue since its first broadcast on 3 October 2014.
- Produced in-house by Akashvani without extra expenditure, it is aired via radio, Doordarshan, social media, and digital platforms like YouTube, Facebook, X, and Instagram.

Azerbaijan and Armenia Sign Peace Accord at White House
