NHAI Introduces AI-Powered 3D Highway Monitoring

  • The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has initiated the use of 3D laser-based Network Survey Vehicles (NSVs) across 23 Indian states, covering nearly 20,933 km of national highways.
  • These advanced NSVs will help in gathering and assessing road inventory and pavement condition data to improve infrastructure management.
  • The AI-integrated system can automatically identify road imperfections such as cracks, potholes, and surface patches.
  • All collected data will be uploaded to NHAI’s AI-enabled Data Lake, where experts will analyze it to strengthen highway maintenance and enhance monitoring efficiency.

Ningol Chakouba Festival 2025 Celebrations in Manipur

  • Manipur is observing Ningol Chakouba, a cherished festival that celebrates the emotional bond between married women and their brothers.
  • The festival is celebrated on the second day of the Hiyangei month in the Meitei calendar, during which married women visit their parental homes to share a festive meal and receive gifts from their brothers.
  • The celebrations commenced with the Annual Fish Fair-cum-Fish Crop Competition held at Hapta Kangjeibung, Imphal, organized by the Manipur Fisheries Department.

Kerala to Become India’s First State Free of Extreme Poverty

Chennai Introduces India’s First Real-Time Flood Forecasting System

  • In October 2025, Chennai became the first city in India to deploy a Real-Time Flood Forecasting and Spatial Decision Support System (RTFF & SDSS).
  • Covering an area of 4,974 sq km, including key river basins, the system is designed to enhance the city’s flood preparedness and response.
  • The project, funded by the World Bank and managed by Tamil Nadu Urban Infrastructure Financial Services Ltd (TNUIFSL), uses data from Automatic Rain Gauges, Weather Stations, Water Level Recorders, and Gate Sensors.
  • Developed with collaboration from UK-based firms and under the supervision of IIT Madras, the system operates via a Hydro Modelling Control Room and several regional centers, ensuring accurate and timely flood alerts.

Centre Proposes Article 371 to Ladakh During Statehood Discussions

  • Talks between Ladakh’s civil society groups—the Leh Apex Body (LAB) and the Kargil Democratic Alliance (KDA)—and the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) have resumed following recent unrest.
