NABARD Makes First Investment Under AgriSURE Fund at Global Fintech Festival 2025
- The National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) made its first-ever investment through the AgriSURE Fund during the Global Fintech Festival (GFF) 2025.
- The AgriSURE Fund, jointly promoted with the Union Ministry of Agriculture, focuses on driving innovation in the agri-fintech ecosystem.
- Fambo Innovation Pvt Ltd was recognised as the first investee startup under the fund. This company connects farmers and Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs) directly with food businesses, improving market access and linkages.
- NABARD also showcased other partner ventures at GFF 2025, such as:
- Kuberjee Tech Pvt Ltd – offering advanced financial technology solutions.
- NAVADHAN Capital – providing credit accessibility for small and marginal farmers.
- SLO Technologies (Advarisk) – developing a real-time collateral management platform.
- Platforms like the Global Fintech Festival and NABARD’s hackathons are being used to create innovative, low-cost MRV systems to measure the environmental benefits of sustainable farming. These systems will help farmers earn carbon credits and other climate-linked benefits.
- The newly launched RuralTech CoLab portal at GFF 2025 aims to bring together fintech, agritech, and digital service providers to design inclusive, scalable, and technology-driven solutions for rural India.
RBI Consolidates 9,000 Circulars Into 238 Master Directions
- The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has integrated 9,000 circulars—including earlier master circulars—into 238 comprehensive Master Directions.
- This consolidation includes all regulatory instructions issued up to October 9, 2025, and covers 11 types of regulated financial entities.
- These 11 regulated entities comprise:
- Commercial Banks, Small Finance Banks, Payments Banks, Local Area Banks, Regional Rural Banks, Urban Co-operative Banks, Rural Co-operative Banks, All-India Financial Institutions, Non-Banking Financial Companies (NBFCs), Asset Reconstruction Companies (ARCs), and Credit Information Companies.
- Directions issued by NABARD for Regional Rural Banks and Co-operative Banks have also been incorporated after consultations with the institution.
Jio Payments Bank Secures Contract for MLFF Toll System on Gurugram–Jaipur Highway
- Jio Payments Bank Limited (JPBL), a subsidiary of Jio Financial Services, has won the contract to deploy Multi-lane Free Flow (MLFF) tolling systems at two toll plazas on the Gurugram–Jaipur National Highway.
- The initiative is part of the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) project executed through the Indian Highways Management Company Limited (IHMCL).
- The MLFF system enables barrier-free toll collection using FASTag and Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR)
- Out of five MLFF bids awarded across India so far, JPBL has secured two, showcasing its growing role in digital toll collection operations, which began in July 2025.
- Currently, JPBL manages toll operations at 11 plazas nationwide and plans to expand its presence in infrastructure-based digital payment systems.
- In FY2025–26, the MLFF system will initially be launched at 25 National Highway plazas, with banks and system integrators contributing to the implementation.
Insurance Samadhan and Jaagruk Bharat Join Hands Against Insurance Mis-Selling
- Insurance Samadhan, a grievance redressal platform, has partnered with Jaagruk Bharat, a digital awareness platform, to fight against insurance mis-selling.
- The collaboration focuses on educating citizens about unethical selling practices and empowering them to recognize and report such incidents.
- Jaagruk Bharat will lead digital awareness campaigns, produce educational materials, and use storytelling initiatives to inform people about the warning signs of insurance fraud and mis-selling.
- The joint initiative strives to promote a simpler, transparent, and trustworthy insurance ecosystem for policyholders across India.

NHAI Introduces 3D Laser-Based Network Survey Vehicles Across 23 States
- The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has begun deploying 3D laser-equipped Network Survey Vehicles (NSVs) across 23 Indian states, covering over 20,933 km of national highways.
- This move is part of the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways’ larger mission to apply Artificial Intelligence (AI) in improving road infrastructure management.
- The NSVs use advanced 3D laser sensors to capture detailed data on road conditions, identifying cracks, potholes, patches, and pavement deterioration without manual input.
- The initiative’s core goals are to enhance road safety, strengthen preventive maintenance, and improve asset management.
- By collecting accurate, real-time data, NHAI aims to adopt a data-driven approach to highway upgrades, repairs, and policy decisions
Kerala to Become India’s First State Free from Extreme Poverty
- Kerala is poised to become the first Indian state officially declared “free from extreme poverty” on November 1, 2025, at an event in Thiruvananthapuram to be led by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan.
- This achievement reflects Kerala’s commitment to inclusive growth, targeted social welfare, and sustainable equity-based development, setting a national benchmark for poverty eradication.
- The Extreme Poverty Eradication Programme, launched in 2021, was among the first major decisions of the Left Democratic Front (LDF) government’s second term.

Chennai Becomes India’s First City with Fully Functional Real-Time Flood Forecasting and Decision System
- Chennai has become the first Indian city to fully implement the Real-Time Flood Forecasting and Spatial Decision Support System (RTFF & SDSS) as of October 2025, marking a significant advancement in urban flood management and climate resilience.
- The system integrates real-time hydrometeorological data and employs technologies such as Automatic Rain Gauges (ARGs), Automatic Weather Stations (AWS), Automatic Water Level Recorders (AWLRs), and Gate Sensors (GS) to predict and monitor flood conditions.
- It covers an area of 4,974 sq km, spanning Chennai and nearby districts, focusing on major river basins like the Adyar, Cooum, Kosasthalaiyar, and Kovalam
- The system allows authorities to map flood-prone zones, predict inundation, and plan early interventions for better disaster response and mitigation.

Paul Kapur Appointed as US Assistant Secretary for South and Central Asian Affairs
- Indian-American expert Paul Kapur has taken charge as the US Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs under the Trump administration.
- He was among 107 nominees approved by the US Senate for senior government positions.
- Kapur succeeds Donald Lu, who held the position from September 2021 to January 2025.
- His portfolio includes diplomatic relations with 13 countries — India, Pakistan, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Bhutan, Maldives, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan.
- Born in New Delhi to an Indian father and American mother, Kapur is recognized for his expertise in security and strategic affairs.
Dame Sarah Mullally Named First Female Archbishop of Canterbury Designate
- Dame Sarah Mullally has been appointed as the Archbishop of Canterbury designate, making her the first woman ever to hold the highest office in the Church of England.
- Ordained in 2006, she previously became the first female Bishop of London in 2018, which is the third-highest ecclesiastical position in the Church.
