India to Host First APAC-AIG Meeting in 2025
- India is set to host the Asia Pacific Accident Investigation Group (APAC-AIG) Meeting and Workshop for the very first time from October 28–31, 2025.
- The event will be organized by the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) under the Ministry of Civil Aviation.
- Approximately 90 international investigators and ICAO (International Civil Aviation Organization) delegates are expected to participate in the workshop.
- The inauguration will be conducted by Union Civil Aviation Minister Rammohan Naidu.
- The sessions will focus on enhancing knowledge of aircraft accident investigation procedures, standardized reporting systems, and regional cooperation mechanisms.
- The event aims to strengthen aviation safety infrastructure and investigative capabilities across the Asia-Pacific region.
Aurangabad Railway Station Renamed as Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar
- The Central Railway has officially renamed Aurangabad Railway Station to Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Station, nearly three years after the city itself was renamed.
- The new station code will be CPSN, and it falls under the Nanded Division of South Central Railway.
- The renaming commemorates Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, the son of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, and replaces the earlier name associated with the Mughal emperor Aurangzeb.
- Opened in 1900 during the reign of Nizam Mir Osman Ali Khan, the station continues to serve a city renowned for its heritage landmarks, such as the Ajanta and Ellora Caves.
Uttarakhand to Impose Green Tax on Out-of-State Vehicles
- Beginning December 2025, the Uttarakhand government will introduce a green tax on vehicles entering the state from other regions to safeguard the fragile Himalayan ecosystem and minimize pollution in key tourist destinations like Dehradun, Mussoorie, Nainital, and Rishikesh.
- The tax will vary between ₹80 and ₹700, depending on the vehicle category, and will be automatically collected using ANPR (Automatic Number Plate Recognition) cameras through digital deduction systems.
- This ensures real-time tax collection and reduces the chances of evasion.

Justice Surya Kant to be the 53rd Chief Justice of India
- Justice Surya Kant has been nominated by Chief Justice of India Bhushan R. Gavai as his successor to assume the role of the 53rd Chief Justice of India (CJI) after Gavai’s retirement on November 23, 2025.
- Justice Kant, currently the senior-most judge of the Supreme Court, will hold office until February 9, 2027, completing a tenure of approximately 14 months.
- He was elevated to the Supreme Court in May 2019 and will become the first Chief Justice from the state of Haryana.
