- India Ranks 4th in Global Biofuel Consumption (2024):
- According to the Statistical Review of World Energy 2025, India became the 4th largest biofuel user, overtaking China.
- India consumed 77 kbbloe/d, a 40% increase over the previous year.
- However, India’s biofuel production was 70 kbbloe/d, still less than China’s 106 kbbloe/d.
- The report noted a global rise in biofuel demand, especially in Asia Pacific and North America.
- Despite this, overall energy-related emissions rose by 1%, hitting a new high.
