Cabinet Approves Celebration of 150th Anniversary of “Vande Mataram”

  • The Union Cabinet has approved a nationwide celebration marking 150 years of the national song “Vande Mataram.”
  • Composed by Bankim Chandra Chatterjee in Sanskrit, the song first appeared in his 1882 novel “Anandamath.”
  • Its first public recital was delivered by Rabindranath Tagore in 1896, giving it national recognition.
