🧠 Mini-Quiz: Add to Your Knowledge (3 MCQs)
📒 Short Notes: Why Stop at One-Liners?
PMFBY — Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana Localised Risk Expansion Agriculture Insurance
What: Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana is the Government of India’s flagship crop insurance scheme; the new localised risk expansion will cover wild animal crop damage and paddy inundation for vulnerable farmers.
How: From Kharif 2026, farmers on forest fringes and in flood-prone areas can claim compensation when notified localised events occur, with premiums still shared by the Centre and states to keep farmer contribution affordable.
Why: The change recognises climate risks and human–wildlife conflict, reducing income shocks for small and marginal farmers and supporting stable agricultural credit, productivity and rural livelihoods.
National Action Plan on AMR 2.0 — Antimicrobial Resistance Health Security
What: AMR stands for Antimicrobial Resistance, where bacteria, viruses and other microbes stop responding to medicines; the National Action Plan on AMR 2.0 updates India’s strategy to tackle this growing threat.
How: The plan follows a One Health approach, linking human health, animal health, food systems and the environment, and focuses on surveillance, infection prevention, rational antibiotic use and strengthening laboratories and regulations.
Why: Unchecked AMR can make common infections untreatable, raise treatment costs and undermine surgery and intensive care, so strengthening AMR 2.0 is vital for patient safety, public health and Sustainable Development Goals.
DAE — Department of Atomic Energy: ColoNoX & Rare Earth Certified Reference Material Materials Science
What: The Department of Atomic Energy has launched ColoNoX, a nitric-oxide releasing wound dressing, and India’s first rare earth Certified Reference Material, labelled BARC B140 by Bhabha Atomic Research Centre.
How: ColoNoX delivers controlled nitric oxide at the wound site to aid healing, while the Certified Reference Material (CRM) provides a standard sample that labs can use to calibrate instruments and validate rare earth measurements.
Why: These innovations support Atmanirbhar Bharat by strengthening indigenous medical products and analytical standards, improving healthcare outcomes and boosting India’s capability across the strategic rare earth value chain.
